Rome's largest landscaped park — 184 hectares. Bring water; very few facilities.
Via di San Pancrazio, 00152 Roma RM, Italy
The largest landscaped park in Rome at 184 hectares, on the Janiculum Hill outside the historic centre. The estate of the Doria Pamphilj family from the 17th century, opened to the public in 1972. Vast pine forests, formal Italian gardens, woodlands, lakes, and the elegant 17th-century Casino del Bel Respiro — used today for state functions. A favourite of Romans for jogging, cycling, picnicking, and taking children. Less polished and less crowded than Villa Borghese; feels like genuine countryside. Two cafés inside; bring water as fountains are scarce. Reachable by tram or bus from Trastevere.
