Cannon fires daily at noon — a tradition since 1847.
Piazzale Giuseppe Garibaldi, 00165 Roma RM, Italy
The highest hill in central Rome (though not one of the original Seven), running along Trastevere's western edge. Lined with monuments to Garibaldi and the heroes of the 1849 Roman Republic, including a dramatic equestrian statue of Garibaldi himself and a memorial to his Brazilian wife Anita. A cannon has been fired from the hill at exactly noon every day since 1847, originally to synchronise the city's church bells — still a tourist attraction today. Sweeping panoramic views over the historic centre and Vatican from the Belvedere terrace.
