Largo Cristina di Svezia, 23A, 00165 Roma RM, Italy
12-hectare botanical garden in the lower slopes of the Janiculum, in the gardens of the 17th-century Palazzo Corsini in Trastevere. Run by Sapienza University as a research collection of around 3,000 plant species. Highlights include a bamboo grove (with a footpath running through it), a Japanese garden, a medicinal plants section, the historic Mediterranean garden, and several greenhouses with tropical and desert plants. Less manicured than great European botanical gardens but charmingly wild. Easily combined with a Trastevere visit.
