A walled medieval garden on the Aventine Hill, planted with bitter orange trees descended from those said to have been planted by Saint Dominic himself in the early 13th century at the adjacent church of Santa Sabina. Built on the foundations of the medieval Savelli fortress, opened to the public in 1932. The Belvedere terrace at its western edge offers one of Rome's most romantic sunset viewpoints, with views over the Tiber to St. Peter's dome. Often crowded at golden hour; quietest in the morning. Free.
