Sunday 11:00 'Mass of the Artists' — actors, directors, musicians attend. Limited weekday hours.

Piazza del Popolo, 18, 00187 Roma RM, Italy

One of the famous 'twin churches' framing the southern entrance to Piazza del Popolo (with Santa Maria dei Miracoli opposite) — they appear identical from a distance but on closer inspection have different ground plans, designed to fit asymmetrical lots. Begun by Carlo Rainaldi (1662) and completed by Bernini (1675-79). Known as the 'Church of the Artists' because of its long association with Rome's creative community — the Sunday morning 'Mass of the Artists' draws actors, directors, painters, and musicians, and many funerals of major Italian cultural figures are held here. Limited opening hours.
