One of the most powerful ancient bronzes in existence — a seated exhausted prizefighter between bouts. Every injury of his career shown: cauliflower ears, broken nose, cuts still bleeding (copper inlay). Unlike the idealised Greek nude, this boxer is middle-aged, beaten, and entirely real. Found buried on the Quirinal Hill in 1885, deliberately hidden to protect it from medieval metal thieves.
