Osteria La Quercia

Mon–Sun: 09:00-17:00

Hidden piazza near Campo de' Fiori. Slow Food recommended. Booking essential — packed even on weekday evenings.

Piazza della Quercia, 23, 00186 Roma RM, Italy

Hidden on a tiny, tranquil piazza two minutes behind Campo de' Fiori, La Quercia is a Slow Food-recommended osteria serving Roman classics with exceptional execution. The Infatuation (2025) specifically cites it for the best cacio e pepe in this part of the city — thick tonnarelli in a particularly pepper-forward pecorino sauce. The amatriciana and carbonara are also excellent. The maritozzo salato (savoury stuffed dough) and polpette di baccalà are outstanding starters. Outdoor seating under a centuries-old oak tree in the piazza is one of Rome's loveliest lunch settings. Peak dining is 8:30–9pm local; arriving at 7pm is much easier. Booking recommended — consistently full despite the off-the-beaten-path location.
