One of Rome's most unexpected hidden green spaces — a secret garden tucked inside the courtyard of Palazzo Venezia, hidden behind the walls of the palace directly on Piazza Venezia, one of the city's busiest and noisiest intersections. Once inside, the garden is a revelation: shaded by mature trees, scattered with ancient sarcophagus fragments, potted lemon trees, and Roman sculpture fragments, with benches where office workers from the palace eat lunch in complete quiet. The contrast between the frantic piazza outside and this serene enclosed garden is one of the most striking in Rome. Featured by Devour Tours and Romewise as one of Rome's top secret gardens. Entrance is through the museum (Museo Nazionale del Palazzo Venezia); the garden is visited as part of the museum visit.
