Colle Oppio Park (Parco del Colle Oppio)

A small hilltop park directly across from the Colosseum, on the Oppian Hill — one of Rome's seven hills. The site of the ancient Baths of Trajan, with substantial brick ruins still visible. The entrance to Nero's Domus Aurea is also here. Offers the best free Colosseum panorama in Rome — many photographers use it instead of paying for the Colosseum's upper tiers. The park is unfortunately less well-maintained than the major villas; visit during daytime for safety.
