Twin bell towers are an icon of the Roman skyline. French national church.
Piazza della Trinità dei Monti, 3, 00187 Roma RM, Italy
The twin-towered church at the top of the Spanish Steps — one of Rome's most recognisable skyline silhouettes. Founded in 1502 by King Charles VIII of France for the Order of Minims, and to this day owned by the French government and served by French nuns. Mostly Renaissance with some Gothic elements (rare in Rome). Inside are Daniele da Volterra's frescoes of the Deposition (1545), once considered the third-greatest painting in Rome after Raphael's Transfiguration and Michelangelo's Last Judgment. The view from the terrace below it is the classic Spanish Steps panorama.
