Twin bell towers are an icon of the Roman skyline. French national church.
Piazza della Trinità dei Monti, 3, 00187 Roma RM, Italy
The twin-towered Renaissance-Gothic church (1502–87) at the top of the Spanish Steps, one of Rome's most recognisable skyline silhouettes. Founded as a French national church under King Charles VIII of France, it remains French to this day — owned by the French government and served by French nuns. Inside are frescoes by Daniele da Volterra (a pupil of Michelangelo, best known for adding draperies to the nudes in the Sistine Chapel's Last Judgment).
