Piazza del Quirinale

A square on the highest of Rome's seven hills, anchored by the Quirinal Obelisk (originally from the Mausoleum of Augustus) and the colossal 5-metre Roman copies of the Greek Dioscuri statues, Castor and Pollux. The Palazzo del Quirinale opposite is the official residence of the President of the Italian Republic — formerly used by popes and kings. The changing of the Corazzieri guard happens daily at 16:00 and is a small ceremonial spectacle worth catching.
