Right above Barberini metro station — very easy to reach.
Piazza Barberini, 00187 Roma RM, Italy
Bernini's earlier work (1643), commissioned by Pope Urban VIII to celebrate the family's improvements to Rome's water supply. A muscular sea god kneels on four dolphins and blows water through a conch shell, with the Barberini family's bee emblem worked into the marble below. The fountain marked a shift in Roman public sculpture toward dramatic, theatrical display — a template Bernini would refine in later work — and it stands directly above the Barberini Metro station, easy to combine with Trevi nearby.
