Trattoria Perilli

Founded in 1911 in Testaccio and still run by the same family, Perilli is one of Rome's last truly classic trattorias — checked tablecloths, paneled walls, regulars who have been coming for decades. The carbonara is widely cited as among Rome's best, the ravioli are handmade daily, and the abbacchio (Roman lamb) is exceptional. Reservations recommended; lunch tends to be quieter than dinner.
