Trattoria Da Cesare al Casaletto

Mon–Sun: Closed

Closed Wednesdays. Reachable by tram 8 to its final stop. Booking strongly recommended.

Via del Casaletto, 45, 00151 Roma RM, Italy

Considered by many Romans and food critics as the city's finest classic trattoria, located in a quiet residential area at the end of tram line 8. Run by Leonardo Vignoli, who took over from his uncle Cesare. The four classic Roman pastas — carbonara, cacio e pepe, amatriciana, gricia — are executed at near-perfection. The fried gnocchi appetiser and the seasonal Roman vegetable dishes are equally remarkable. Wine list curated with care; service warm and unrushed. Worth the journey out from the centre.
