The most beloved aperitivo bar in Trastevere and one of the most famous in all of Rome. Housed in a former mechanic's workshop (brakes and clutches = the name), it retains the raw concrete and industrial character. The outdoor terrace near the Tiber buzzes from dusk onwards. What makes it exceptional: a generous, mostly vegetarian aperitivo buffet that easily passes for dinner, included with any drink. Batch cocktails at honest prices (around €10), accessible to everyone. Regularly on the World's 50 Best Bars list. Crowded and lively — arrive at 7pm or stand.
