The world's most important collection of Etruscan art, in a 16th-century papal pleasure villa designed by Vasari, Vignola, and Ammannati. The Etruscans were the pre-Roman civilization of central Italy — masters of bronze, terracotta, and gold. Star pieces include the polychrome Sarcophagus of the Spouses (530 BC) and the Apollo of Veii. Rarely crowded; the gardens are lovely.
