A volunteer-run sanctuary for around 250 stray cats living among the 4th-century BC Republican-era temple ruins where Julius Caesar was assassinated. Free to visit (donations welcomed); volunteers are happy to talk to kids about the cats. The site itself is a fascinating archaeological space, recently opened to ground-level visitors. A unique combination of ancient history and animal-loving fun.
